About me
I am a creative director and designer currently working as Head of Design for Academic products at Oxford University Press. I enjoy leading and being a part of creative and interdisciplinary teams. I like to support and mentor creatives to do their best work. Sometimes that means I step away from the creative process in order to fix workflows, improve systems, engage with key stakeholders, or analyse the data behind what we are doing. I feel as comfortable discussing and coming up with big ideas and creative strategies as I do fixing the kerning on a logo or meeting with a key supplier to improve the efficiency of a process.
My undergraduate degree is in graphic design. I studied Typography & Graphic Communication at the University of Reading. Whilst working full-time, I completed an MBA with the Open University. I use both my BA and MBA in my daily creative practice. I am passionate about design and the importance of design to user experience. But I am also business-minded in how I approach discussions with clients, problem-solving, change management, and creating the conditions in which a design function can have the most impact and success within an organisation.
